Sophie saw Francis Health as the perfect place to marry her frontline experience as a clinical pharmacist with her ‘hobbies’ - design thinking, entrepreneurship and social change, to shift the needle in health service delivery.
She has been involved in not-for-profit consultant organisations, board governance, social entrepreneurship and population health research. Sophie enjoys projects that create a meaningful impact for both patients and health professionals.
What would you describe as your area of expertise?
I enjoy working with people, I get a kick out of working with pace and bringing people along with me. I truly believe in the power of a team and empowerment of others to step into their change-making power for sustainable change.
Innovation and creativity is most impactful when we come from a human-centred ethos and thrive in re-framing a problem to force fresh thinking. My positive outlook means that when the going gets tough, I can keep the team on track to keep the faith and sustain a culture of performance improvement.
Which projects are you most proud of (and why)?
Early 2018 has been an absolute whirlwind, co-founding The Social Experiment, a weekend experience where people experience the future of work, innovative business methodologies and transformative personal development. I am incredibly proud of what we (a team of 5 young women) have achieved in six months and will go into every project at Francis Health with the same pace, drive and mindset to deliver above and beyond.
How would you describe working for Francis Health?
Impressive, diverse, empowering and invigorating! The attitude that struck me immediately with the Francis Health team was the relentless optimism that we can accelerate and empower the health system in Aotearoa and globally.
What are you currently working on?
I am proud and fortunate to be working with MidCentral DHB on two projects - the ED Acute Flow and General Medicine inpatient improvement programmes. Already, I am seeing extraordinary efforts by everyone involved and humbled to be working with an impressive team at MidCentral.
