More detail …….

Neil has demonstrated this skill set in numerous engagements with clients in Europe, the US and Japan. Examples of this work include execution of major pharmaceutical deals, launching of life-sciences consortia and transforming core departments in major pharma companies. Neil moved to Australia in February of 2019 and joined the Francis Health team. Since joining Francis Health, Neil has been applying his skills to new challenges in the Australian Healthcare sector; including patient flow and theatre productivity improvement.

What would you describe as your area of expertise?

Strategic execution! I’ve been fortunate enough to have great training in both Strategy Consulting and Program Management which enables me to see each from the perspective of the other. My strengths therefore lie in being able to translate strategies into tangible implementation programs and to develop strategies that are pragmatic and actionable.

Which projects are you most proud of (and Why)?

There are many projects that I am proud of but one that will forever stick out for me was a project to establish a consortium for clinical investigations in Puerto Rico. We established a new company from scratch and engaged with a wide range of stakeholders across the whole island to launch an entity that would put Puerto Rico on the map for Clinical Trials.

I’m proud of the impact that the work had for a) patients; who had access to novel therapies and vaccines b) the jobs created both in the entity we set up but also clinical trial units that were our members and c) the positive impact it had on the economy of the island. I’m also proud of the team that I was working with; they all did a tremendous job at great personal sacrifice, being away from home for extended periods of time (that said, the weekend beach life was a perk)

How would you describe working for Francis Health?

There is common purpose that connects everyone here, we all love to solve complex problems but more importantly we want to do our part to make a positive impact on people’s lives. This commonality attracts a certain type of person to work here. It’s a given that everyone is bright and motivated, that’s table-stakes for consultants. What sets Francis Health apart is the connection (often on a very personal level) that people have with improving healthcare for the people living in the territories we serve.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on an Acute Flow improvement program at Nepean Blue Mountains LHD and soon to start a Theatre Productivity piece of work at North Adelaide LHN. Also, in the pipeline, I am developing a piece of thought leadership around the attractiveness of Australia as a market for Clinical Trials.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

The daily excitement of applying my brain to some gnarly problems that can make a difference to people’s lives.
